Winter
onion
Spring type onions with mainly Japanese genetics, well-adapted to latitudes between 30º and 42º.
Short-day
onion
The onions in this segment are very well-adapted to latitudes
from 0º to 35º.
Intermediate-day
onion
These onions have bulbs that form with a day length of between 12-14 hours.
Long-day
onion
Long-day onions need a minimum of 14-15 hours of sunlight to start bulbing.
Spring
onion
These onions are harvested prematurely, when the bulbs have not yet reached their final size.
Sweet
onion
Mostly short-day, but with exceptional flavour and texture characteristics due to their low pungency levels.

Our main
growing areas
Castile-La Mancha was the main onion producer in Spain, recording a production volume of approximately 748,500 tonnes in 2021. Andalusia and the Valencian Community ranked second and third, respectively.
